In just one week, we've learned that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas
has:

* Accepted luxury trips and gifts from a billionaire conservative.
* Attended meetings of a secret club of billionaires and international
power brokers.(1)
* Moved his mother into a rent-free property owned by the same
billionaire.(2)
* Declared hundreds of thousands of dollars in income from a company
that no longer exists.(3)

No wonder Thomas voted in favor of Citizens United, protecting monopolies,
and rolling back workers’ rights, and against the Affordable Care Act,
child labor laws, and the minimum wage.(4,5) He’s been paid handsomely for
his votes.

An ethical Supreme Court is the cornerstone of our democracy, and our
democracy cannot sustain having such a corrupt justice on the bench.
Congress must investigate Clarence Thomas and establish strong rules to
stop actions like Thomas’s from slipping through the cracks again. Courage
California has joined a coalition to collect millions of signatures
demanding that Congress act. Will you sign on?

The Supreme Court’s purpose is to defend the Constitution and our civil
rights as citizens.

Nine people hold our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
in their hands. It is the branch of government that holds the power to
enforce integration, stop cruel and unusual punishment, and protect
abortion rights.

But in the last dozen years, the Supreme Court has lost its way --
allowing corporations to funnel billions of dollars into elections, ending
reproductive care protections, and stripping voting rights. And now we
know that at least for Clarence Thomas, there were significant bribes
behind his actions.

This corruption cannot be allowed to stand if our democracy is to survive.
Congress must support the people and hold Thomas and his colleagues
accountable.
