Disaster Resilience Survey of Texans with Disabilities
Emergency Preparedness is an area of focus with accessibility for Texans with disabilities. An emergency event can occur at any time and create stressful situations for any person. People with disabilities and their loved ones have an additional concern in ensuring access to resources and services. The best way to be prepared is to improve familiarity with emergency needs and resources in advance of an disaster.
Disability Rights Texas has released a Survey on Disaster Resilience of Texans with Disabilities [ [link removed] ]. The results of the survey will inform Disability Rights Texas about current levels of readiness and local community needs. With this information, Disability Rights Texas will have the ability to give guidance and resources for programs and services to improve access during disasters. They can also improve community awareness about the availability of accessible resources and supports.
The survey is for:
* people with disabilities;
* people who support people with disabilities;?and
* other people with a connection to the disability community.
The Texas Governor?s Committee on People with Disabilities encourages Texans concerned with disability access to complete this brief survey. It asks questions about preparedness including what you know, how you feel, and what resources you have on hand. If you know someone who would like to be heard on this topic, please share this information and the link to the survey.
