John, you may have seen my emails on the dangerous Article V plot to gut our Constitution.

I’m writing to you again today because I’m honestly worried. You see, Article V isn’t some wonky policy issue – it touches everything you and I care about, from the environment to reproductive justice to voting rights.

That’s right, if an Article V Convention is called, unelected and unaccountable delegates will have the power to change our entire Constitution – putting all the rights it protects at risk.

And already, over 100 bills for Article V have been introduced, and we’re only 4 months into the year!

One thing I can promise you though, John, is that I won’t let our rights be stolen away under the cover of darkness.

Here at Common Cause, we’ve figured out that one of Article V’s greatest weapons is its secrecy. Those behind this plot are working to keep it under wraps so they can steal our rights away behind closed doors – before we know what’s going on and can mobilize to stop them.

And now that we know their greatest weapon, we know exactly what it takes to stop those behind the Article V plot to reshape our Constitution.

I’m shining a light on Article V – bringing it out of the shadows and into the public eye. I’m alerting members like you of bills moving through state legislatures, putting a spotlight on Article V’s backers, and debunking myths created to make Article V seem benign.

Meanwhile I’m leading the state-by-state grassroots organizing response only Common Cause can deliver to block every new Article V call that pops up in the states while working to rescind any calls that have already been passed.

And this strategy is working, John. Already this year, Common Cause members like you mobilized to stop a new Article V call in Montana by just one vote. And before that, we rescinded calls in New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, New Hampshire, Delaware, New Mexico, Maryland, and Nevada.

But John, if the pace of Article V bills so far this year tells us anything, it’s that we desperately need to ramp up our work if we’re going to stop Article V. And I can’t do that without your help.
