Resource of the Month

times digital archive

The upcoming coronation of King Charles III follows in a long line of such events across the centuries. Curious to read about previous coronations?

Then look no further and see how The Times reported the occasions, from the coronation of King George IV on Friday 20 July, 1821 and a description of the various processions, Queen Victoria that included a full order of service and description of the window displays and decorations on businesses and notable buildings in Central London, 29th June 1838, through to a bumper edition featuring several pages of photographs of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in the issue of 3rd June 1953.

The archive can be searched by keyword or date and covers 1785 to 2019 and can be accessed anywhere with a library card - why not look up your date of birth and see what made the news?
