Dear John,

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2020 – and Happy Lunar New Year to those of you marking it! As many people have been kicking off the New Year with new resolutions, intentions and activities, we’ve picked a selection of stories that will leave you feeling well and truly inspired.

Stories of refugees finding strength and opportunities in everything from sport to music and art, including cross-cultural collaborations and ambitions to go as far as the Olympics.

We’d also like to start off the year by thanking you for helping to spread solidarity and compassion for refugees around the world. We’re so grateful for all your support and we have great hopes for what we can achieve together in 2020!

Thank you for supporting UNHCR. Together, we are helping people to discover new passions, connect with others and follow their dreams. We’re so grateful to have you by our side as we step into 2020.

P.S. If you’ve made a resolution to get active in 2020, don’t forget that every step you take can count towards our Step With Refugees campaign, when you link your Fitbit or Strava account. We’re aiming to reach 1 billion miles/2 billion kilometres – the distance refugees travel to find safety every year – and an amazing 28.9 million kilometres have been clocked up so far!
