In just a fraction of now-U.S. Rep. Jennifer McClellan’s (D-Va.) time in the Virginia Legislature, the state went from the second-hardest state to vote in to the 12th easiest state. Here are some updates from today.

A trial starts today in a redistricting lawsuit in Tennessee. Democratic voters argue that Tennessee’s state House and Senate maps are gerrymandered to unfairly benefit Republicans and violate the state constitution. Find out more about the case here.

This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court did not release an order in the Ohio redistricting case we’re watching. The next order day — when the justices announce which cases they choose to hear next term — is Monday, April 24.

Here's a legislative update you may have missed.

On Thursday, April 13, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) signed a law which will expand and improve the enforcement mechanisms of the Washington Voting Rights Act. Learn more about state-level Voting Rights Acts.

Here's what to expect coming up.

Tomorrow and Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to release rulings in argued cases. We'll be looking out for any possible decisions in Merrill v. Milligan and Moore v. Harper.
