Forty years ago, this movement - beginning with the Minnesota Women’s Campaign Fund - started with 25 bipartisan women in a living room. And now, Women Winning has grown with more than 19,000 people united to recruit, train, and elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office.

For Women Winning’s 41st year, we’re celebrating where we’ve come from, where we are, and most importantly, where we are heading. Our team is excited and visioning what Women Winning will accomplish in the next 40 years. 

We’re here to continue fighting for candidates that care about body autonomy. We need our best advocates - pro-choice women - in the legislature, fighting to protect access to safe and legal abortion for generations to come.

LyLy comes to Women Winning with an extensive background in Minnesota politics. She was Senior Policy Aide at the City of Minneapolis for Council member Aisha Chughtai, and Campaign Manager at Neighbors for Aisha Chughtai. She was an Organizer on Mayor Carter’s first campaign and developed the campaign’s fellowship program. She also served as a Policy Associate for Mayor Carter in Saint Paul, helping to implement a city-wide $15/hour minimum wage. She also took on many roles at TakeAction Minnesota during her time there. This incredible woman is also an experienced care provider – a nanny and an abortion doula, as well as an eldest daughter and hot tub enthusiast. We’re happy she has joined our team!

Women Winning’s Political Leaders of Today (PLOT) training program is designed to help participants build the skills and connections to work on political campaigns in Minnesota. The PLOT program serves as an entry point for energized, pro-choice Minnesotans interested in a career in politics, especially those who have not yet volunteered or worked on a political campaign. In lieu of a cover letter, include a short message of interest that speaks to your commitment to bodily autonomy and community agency, your interest in reproductive justice, and/or your dedication to electing pro-choice candidates. 

Access to medication abortion will continue in Minnesota even if a federal judge's ruling against mifepristone stands, local reproductive health care providers and advocates say. The pill is the predominant form of abortion in Minnesota. Close to 60% of the abortions in the state in 2021 used mifepristone, per state data. We continue to monitor the federal case as it moves through the appeals process.  

Our team had a great time at Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund, celebrating local leaders and the future of reproductive justice. 

We supported Planned Parenthood's work in Minnesota passed the Protect Reproductive Options Act (PRO Act), protecting fundamental rights of Minnesotans for generations to come.
