Dear John,

Ahead of our Spring Action Month [3] beginning this Saturday 22 April,
here's an idea for anyone who'd like to raise sponsorship for Population
Matters. Will you #WalkThisMay?

Everyone loves getting outside to enjoy some sunshine and more frequent
wildlife sightings now the spring weather has arrived in the northern
hemisphere. Did you know a lunchtime walk can make you more productive in
the afternoon, and you use approximately 200 different muscles every time
you take a single step?

May is National Walking Month in the UK and therefore the perfect
opportunity to be outdoors, get moving, and raise funds for Population
Matters [4]! Every penny you raise in sponsorship will support our
campaigns.

Taking the recommended 10,000 steps a day is equivalent to 8km and, with
our global population now at 8 billion and counting, why not make your
fundraising challenge this May to walk "8km for 8Bn"? Alternatively, you
could:

Challenge yourself to walk any distance just once, weekly, or even every
day throughout May.

Commit to walking instead of using the car for shorter journeys in May -
and beyond.

Walk your children or grandchildren to school every day in May.

One great tip is to download a pedometer app to your phone and challenge
yourself to walk just 1,000 steps, then 2,000 steps, 3,000 steps, and see
how far you can go!

Set up your own fundraising page [5] on our website which you can then
share on social media for friends and family to sponsor you.

Please get in touch to share your walking adventures and progress.

P.S. Long-time member John is completing a sponsored family fell walk
[6] for his May walk. What will your walking challenge be?
