The Republican Party of Arizona will be holding its State Convention on May 9, 2020 –
and we want to see you there! To become a State Delegate, you'll need to first register by filling out the online form at www.azgop.com/convention before the Monday, February 10 deadline.
Arizona's caucus process will begin with Legislative District meetings in Maricopa and Pima County, as well as, meetings in Arizona’s other 13 counties. These local meetings will be held in the early months of 2020. Delegates elected at these meetings will gather at the Phoenix Convention Center on May 9, 2020, to elect the delegates to the National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
At the time you register online, you must declare who you support as the Republican nominee for President and Vice President, or note that you will be running as a “No Preference” candidate. This is an important declaration, as we will be publishing your selection on the delegate ballot. Also, when submitting your delegate nomination form, you will be asked to attach a copy of your Arizona Driver's License or Government-issued ID. The AZGOP is requiring a photocopy of your ID to avoid long credentialing lines at the convention.
Once the state delegate nomination period is closed, candidates are not allowed to change who they support as the Party’s nominees. Importantly, any registered Republican may run as a delegate candidate – but only Precinct Committeemen are able to vote in these local elections. We’re expecting just under 2,000 voting delegates at the State Convention in Phoenix, who will be responsible for electing our delegates to the National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
