John, the numbers you are about to see are very impressive. We have an opportunity to use our partner's technique to help flip Texas CD-15 from red to blue while boosting statewide margins as part of the effort to defeat Ted Cruz. Please take a look! |
Using ballot initiatives, ROCC partner Ground Game Texas was able to attract both infrequent and first-time voters to the polls at an impressive rate. Austin, which is not the largest city in Texas by any means, did yield the highest turnout in large part because of these initiatives.
Austin, Texas isn't rural or red - but significantly boosting turnout in the most liberal city in Texas bodes extremely well when we talk about defeating Ted Cruz who only won by 2.6% in 2018. |
The same measure that drove voters to the polls in Austin was also employed in Elgin, TX (a small town of 10,000 people) where the initiative won with 64% of the vote!
Right now we are rallying partners to coordinate a strategy to put up community-specific initiatives on the ballot in 2024, not only in Democratic strongholds but also in the rural south and west there is a good chance we can flip TX-15 blue and even impact statewide results handing Ted Cruz a defeat. In 2020, this was one of the lowest turnout areas of Texas so there is great opportunity to have a major impact in swinging the numbers for 2024.
The fact is our issues win everywhere and there are great rural organizers across the country ready to carry out projects like this. This is what ROCC does. We identify the best grassroots mobilization strategies being done across rural America and coordinate these efforts into a national strategy - such as defeating Ted Cruz. John , will you support our work to equip volunteers across Texas to adapt and deploy this technique in their own communities so we can help flip Texas blue?
