There are some numbers that I think are important for you to know following last night's FEC fundraising deadline:

-We met our goal of reaching 1.5 million people who have contributed to this campaign so far. That is extraordinary.

-During the month of January, 633,552 people contributed to put us on a path to win in Iowa, New Hampshire, and the many states that follow.

-More than 200,000 of those people were contributing for the first time, which is just one of the ways our movement continues to grow across the country.

I share these numbers today because they show that we are building the largest grassroots organization of anyone else in this race. And that is exactly the reason our campaign is the best prepared to defeat Donald Trump in November.

That's why it was disappointing to learn that the DNC changed the requirements candidates need to meet in order to qualify for the debate later this month. For past debates, candidates had to prove they had a certain number of donors in order to appear on the debate stage.

Now the DNC has changed the rules by removing the donor threshold to benefit billionaire Mike Bloomberg, who is rejecting grassroots donations to fund his own campaign.

I much prefer the Democratic Party being a grassroots party. And under Bernie Sanders, that's the way it will be.

If you agree, I need to ask you to do something today to send a powerful message to the DNC.

Add your name to tell the DNC that self-funded billionaires like Mike Bloomberg should not be able to buy their way onto the debate stage. We must be a grassroots party, not one that caters to the billionaire class.

Changing the rules to accommodate a billionaire is unfair to candidates like Julián Castro and Cory Booker who were kept out of the debates because they didn't meet the DNC's thresholds. It is also not the way to beat Trump.

We are not going to defeat Donald Trump by paving the way for a self-funded billionaire. We will do it by building the largest grassroots movement this country has ever seen.

Thanks for adding your name. Together we are going to transform this country to work for all of us and not just those at the top.

In solidarity,

Jeff Weaver
