At the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, volunteers exemplify the heart of everything we do. They reach people in communities everywhere by advocating, walking to raise awareness and funds, delivering programs and support, and so much more. This year, [National Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 16 to 22]([link removed]). To celebrate, we want to convey our deepest thanks and boundless appreciation to our wonderful volunteers. Put simply, our work wouldn't be possible without them.
Our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Lamma knows that volunteers are why AFSP is able to accomplish so much in chapters all across the country:
"While there are millions of wonderful volunteers devoted to many great causes, never have I met a group of more passionate and positive people. Through local chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, our volunteers do the work of carrying out AFSP’s mission of saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide." This year, we created a [special webpage featuring social media graphics]([link removed]) that both our staff and volunteers can use to spread messages of hope, connection, and appreciation for each other. We hope you'll join us in letting the world know how much we love our volunteers, and inspiring others to get involved and make a difference!
