Tweet for Carlos G. Smith: When Republican Webster Barnaby called trans people “demons”, “imps”, and “mutants” it wasn’t a mistake or gaffe. It was the hatred and bigotry that’s really motivating Florida’s 20+ anti-LGBTQ proposals FINALLY being spoken into words. Now it’s exposed.

John, we’ll make this quick. A Florida lawmaker recently went on an horrific homophobic and transphobic rant, where he blames trans people for America’s alleged decay, claiming:

“I’m looking at society today and it’s like I’m watching an 'X-Men' Movie with people that… it’s like we have mutants living among us on Planet Earth. And, you know, some people don’t like it but that’s fact.”

He continued, stating they’re “mutants from another planet”, “demons” and “imps”, and that as a “good Christian” he actually rebuked them – and there were trans kids in the room listening to his hate!

Look, this man’s rant is the best case we can make for electing LGBTQ+ voices at all levels of government. We NEED more LGBTQ+ people in the room to drown out these bigots and block their toxic legislation. Chip in to power the rainbow wave today!
