Friend,
Do you remember your childhood library? I certainly do. Growing up, my mom and I would spend hours browsing the shelves, getting lost in the world of stories and knowledge. Libraries were sanctuaries that encouraged learning, growth, and imagination.
Today, on National Librarian Day, we honor the amazing librarians who dedicate their lives to fostering knowledge and education. But while we celebrate these heroes, we also face a troubling reality in our state.
You may have heard about the recent victory in Llano County, where library supporters courageously opposed attempts to close local branches amidst a heated controversy involving censorship and book banning. Thanks to their courage and passion, the Llano Public Library will remain open!
But the fight doesn't end there. Across Texas, Republican lawmakers are continuing their fight to ban books, erase history, and silence the voices of the most marginalized in our communities. It’s a page straight out of the fascist playbook, and Friend, we cannot let it happen.
In honor of National Librarian Day, will you join us in standing up for Texas libraries? Sign our petition to show your support and let's send a clear message: Texans stand for the freedom to read, learn, and grow!
