The leaked documents from the Pentagon show us that China is on the move in our Hemisphere. America needs to lead from the front on this and thus I plan on using my position as Chair of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to protect our allies and interests in Latin America from Chinese tyranny! This week, I introduced H.R. 1802, the 'Caribbean Basin Security Initiative Authorization Act' with my colleagues, Reps. Espaillat (NY) and Green (TN). Constituents from the Caribbean in District 27 represent a very important part of the cultural tapestry of Miami. If enacted, the bill would secure long-term funding for critical resources towards law enforcement development in these nations to combat transnational crime, violence, and promote regional instability.
