Dear Reader,
The Allegheny County executive is one of the most influential offices in Pennsylvania. This year, the position is up for grabs as longtime County Executive Rich Fitzgerald terms out of office. Voters will select a new county executive for the first time since 2011.
We invite you to join us as PublicSource and NEXTpittsburgh host the candidates on April 18 at the Allegheny County Executive Town-Hall Debate. Moderators Tony Norman, Charlie Wolfson and Natalie Bencivenga will pose questions about the candidates’ records and experience as well as topics like the county’s population, property taxes, public health and other top resident concerns.
WHERE: Livestreamed on Facebook. (Note: This registration link is for the virtual/livestreamed event only. All in-person tickets have been claimed.)
WHEN: 6:30-8 p.m. April 18.
WHO: All seven candidates on the ballot for the May 16 primary election were invited. The candidates committed to attending are attorney/former Allegheny County Councilor Dave Fawcett, state Rep. Sara Innamorato, City Controller Michael Lamb, businessman/former congressional candidate William Parker, former PNC executive Joe Rockey, county Treasurer John Weinstein, and former Pittsburgh Public Schools board member Theresa Colaizzi .
NEXTpittsburgh and PublicSource are proud to partner to host their first jointly presented nonpartisan, livestreamed debate, and are grateful for the incredible support of Point Park University’s Center for Media Innovation. We hope this event is one of many that will serve to increase the level of dialogue and engagement in local politics and the democratic process in general.
Please join us, and feel free to forward this email to invite others!
