John,
Politicians have twisted themselves into knots trying to hand gobs of cash to the wealthy for the last 40 years.
It was a plot: Make the wealthy even wealthier, starve the government, and then cry poor when budget deficits add up. Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist said as much when he called his tax cut pledge a “starve the beast” strategy. “The beast,” in that case, being the United States of America.
This Tax Day, let’s demand Congress stop starving our nation and make the rich pay their fair share!
Lowering taxes for the rich isn’t an end in and of itself―it’s the means to the end of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, housing, infrastructure, public safety regulations and more … they want to drag us back to the pre-Civil War era.
We won’t let them.
The first step is to boldly fight for the rich to pay their fair share!
Sign now: Tell Congress: Raise taxes on the Rich & Corporations, don’t cut services for working families!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
