Take Our SUMMER CHALLENGE
Opinion Poll Right Away!
Dear John,
During these dog days of summer, it's easy to forget the opposition to earned benefits. But it still exists. Incredibly, there are STILL those in Washington who challenge Social Security and Medicare — and claim these programs are too costly, too cumbersome, and not good deals. We vehemently disagree! Before we had Social Security and Medicare, many older Americans faced real fear, poverty and suffering. Do we really want to go back to that?
That’s why I’m asking you to take the National Committee's Special Opinion Poll today: When politicians in Washington propose cuts to Social Security and Medicare, do you think they're taking into account the rights and needs of workers and retirees who have paid into these programs their entire working lives?
John, why is your opinion so important? Because those who truly understand the value and critical nature of Social Security and Medicare deserve to have a voice in determining the future of these vital programs. And our elected officials in Washington must understand that we cannot return to a time when older Americans had no social insurance safety net. Social Security and Medicare are both very good deals — and they are among America's finest, most humane achievements, bar none.
But the benefits that over a lifetime are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to you and your family must be rigorously protected and strengthened this summer. Please weigh in with your opinion, and please do it RIGHT NOW! Threats to earned benefits are looming in the months ahead. That's why the National Committee is launching a massive, nationwide SUMMER CHALLENGE campaign to raise unprecedented awareness about the rights and needs of workers and retirees — and this poll and your response is a key part of our campaign.
Remember: We don't take money from the government or from big corporations. Our resources are YOU and YOUR VOICE. Your response will help us make the case for protecting and strengthening earned benefits at a time when these programs continue to be used as scapegoats by some in Washington to pay down deficits and pay for huge tax breaks for the wealthy. Thank you in advance for your candid feedback, and please watch your inbox for more information on our Summer Challenge campaign in the coming weeks.
