Oklahoma,
I’ve hope you’ve had a great week! I certainly had a great one as we continued our statewide tour and heard from so many Oklahomans about the issues closest to you.
I had the opportunity this week to visit two of our esteemed military installations – Tinker and Vance Air Force Bases (AFB). At Tinker AFB, I was able to observe what our Armed Forces do every day to secure operational readiness and support our brave Airmen, Guardians, and their families. At Vance AFB, I was honored to tour the educational facilities where they are training the next generation of U.S. Airmen. As the only member of our delegation on the Armed Services Committee, it’s my great responsibility to ensure Oklahoma’s military installations have what they need to protect our service members and defend our nation, and it’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.
Oklahoma is blessed to be the home of some of America’s best medical research and hospital facilities. This week, I had the chance to visit two of these health centers; the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) and OU Health’s Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. OMRF is a worldwide leader in various types of medical research, including autoimmune disorders, aging, and metabolism – all of which are happening right here in our own backyard. Oklahoma Children’s Hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma center in the state and is home to a new, state-of-the-art NICU, which provides newborns with critical procedures and support.
On Wednesday, I was in Tulsa to speak with the business owners and job creators at the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce. I had a great time discussing cybersecurity, domestic energy, and the importance of supporting a business-friendly regulatory environment. Later in the day, I spoke with Tulsa University President Brad Carson and toured the campus to check out some of their amazing science and technology programs.
We’ve done so much in Oklahoma over the past few days – it’s hard to include them all in just one newsletter! To hear about other visits we’ve made, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. And as always, reach out to my office if we can help in anyway.
Next week I’ll be in Washington D.C. – and while I’d much rather be in Oklahoma – the discussions we've shared and the great people I've met will always be on my mind. As I’m working in the Senate, I’ll never stop fighting for the critical needs we spoke about these past two weeks. And I’m counting down the days until we can meet again in our great state. Have a blessed week!
God Bless!
Markwayne Mullin
U.S. Senator for Oklahoma
