Start of Red Snapper Season

Last week, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that the 2023 Red Snapper season will begin on May 26th. Louisiana’s recreational allocation was increased for this year, which means the season will run seven days a week until the allocation is met. Louisiana is proud to be known as the “Sportsman’s Paradise” and the Red Snapper fishery is important to our culture and a major economic driver in the Gulf. That's why it's absolutely critical we keep unelected Washington bureaucrats out of the way so we can keep management of Red Snapper with the Gulf States' experts who better understand the unique needs of our states.

We Must Lower Energy Costs for American Families

Since President Biden took office, energy costs have hit record highs with gas prices up 51 percent and household electricity prices up 24 percent, while real wages are down 4 percent. As we head into summer, families and small businesses in Louisiana and nationwide can’t afford to keep paying the skyrocketing cost of Biden’s anti-American energy agenda.

House Republicans have delivered on our promise to lower energy costs for the American people. Now, the Senate and President Biden must listen and act on the Lower Energy Costs Act. To continue highlighting the need for a strong American energy strategy, I recently penned an op-ed in the Times-Picayune calling for a return to American energy independence and lower energy costs for hard-working Louisiana families.

Sharing our Nation's History

Recently, I spent the day with our local news station WGNO to share with Louisiana families what a day in our nation's Capitol looks like. From meeting local students visiting the Capitol to fighting for affordable flood insurance and voting to lower energy costs, I am honored to represent Southeast Louisiana in Congress and share some of the great history our Capitol holds with the constituents of Louisiana's First Congressional District.
