John, I’m reaching out today with a deeply personal request.
It would mean the world to me if you would take a moment to hear my story. But if you’re short on time, will you consider chipping in to my friends at ASPIRE before you go? Even rushing in $12 before their Mid-Month Deadline in 12 hours would help. >>
I’m proud of my Asian American heritage.
I’m proud to have made history as the first openly gay Asian American to serve in Congress.
And I’m especially proud to stand with ASPIRE as they work to elect more diverse Democrats. >>
My family immigrated to America from Japan and worked hard to build a life here.
But because of discriminatory bills and fear-mongering policies -- my grandparents and parents were sent to Japanese American internment camps during World War II and lost everything.
And now, Republicans are attacking the LBGTQ+ community, women, and other vulnerable communities with HUNDREDS of discriminatory bills and fear-mongering policies.
So this fight is personal.
We need people in Congress who look like the communities they represent.
And I won’t stop fighting to protect families like mine.
John, that’s the reason I agreed to reach out to you personally.
Will you help arm ASPIRE with the tools they need to register and educate Democratic voters, empower our candidates, and STOP Republicans?
With this critical Mid-Month Deadline 12 hours away -- ASPIRE desperately needs our help. I don’t want anyone to ever grow up facing discrimination -- because of their race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and/or religion. I may be the first openly gay Asian American elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, but I certainly won’t be the last. Will you join me in supporting Team ASPIRE with $12 before midnight? >>
Thank you,
Mark Takano
