Arizona added 84,400 jobs between December 2018 and December 2019 for 2.8 percent job growth â the second-fastest job growth in the nation. Job growth in 2019 was driven largely by employment gains in sectors including trade, transportation, and utilities, education and health services, and professional and business services.

In his State of the State Address, Governor Ducey proposed building on the state's leadership in civics education by allowing students to take the citizenship test before high school. He also called for legislation creating Sandra Day O'Connor Civics Celebration Day â a day when classroom instruction can be devoted entirely to civics.

BRIEF: One Year Later: Arizonaâs Drought Contingency Plan
Last year, Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order creating the Water Augmentation, Innovation, and Conservation Council to recommend opportunities for expanding and protecting Arizonaâs water supplies long-term. Since then, the Council has met every quarter and created four committees to develop, evaluate and prioritize recommendations.

BRIEF: Two Years Later: Arizona Continues To Tackle Opioid Epidemic
In January 2018, Governor Doug Ducey signed the Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act in response to the alarming increase in opioid use, overdoses and deaths nationwide and in Arizona. Since then, Arizona has seen a 13 percent decrease in opioid prescriptions filled. Additionally, the number of opioid-naive patients receiving opioid prescriptions has dropped by 95 percent.
