“My father is gone because they didn’t care they were enabling mass shooters. They have to be held accountable not just for my father’s sake but everyone who may still suffer what my family and I have been forced to go through.”
These are the powerful words of Gurinder Singh Bains. Two years ago, in what is the deadliest mass shooting in Indiana history, a gunman used an assault weapon and large-capacity magazine to kill Gurinder’s father and seven others at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis.
This week, Brady filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer and distributor of the deadly large-capacity magazine used in the shooting. Our lawsuit, representing Bains and the families of other victims, argues that the defendants unlawfully marketed the large-capacity magazine and failed to enact reasonable safeguards to minimize violence.
The gunman, a 19-year-old former employee, fired dozens of rounds, inflicting mass carnage in less than four minutes. No civilian should be able to access a 60-round magazine, period. These weapons have no use outside of killing as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
Yet the gun industry continues to market and sell these devices to everyday Americans — often with no meaningful protocols or oversight in place to ensure that they aren't used in a mass shooting.
Brady Legal is fighting very hard to hold the gun industry accountable for dangerous and unlawful practices, like the ones that resulted in the death of eight employees simply trying to do their job. And our efforts couldn’t be more important as our nation reels from yet another workplace mass shooting at a bank in Louisville, KY, earlier this week.
John, if we’re successful in this case, the victims’ families will be able to access a modicum of justice, and most importantly, we’ll have helped prevent this kind of tragedy from happening to anyone ever again.
But let me tell you this. As someone who takes on the gun industry in court every day with Brady, I know they will stop at nothing to stand in our way — and that’s why I’m reaching out to you today. Brady’s life-saving legal work representing victims and survivors of gun violence is made possible by supporters like you. We cannot do this alone. Please help us keep up the fight for gun industry reform and justice in the courts by donating to Brady today. [[link removed]]

VICTORY: Michigan Governor Signs Two Gun Safety Bills Into Law
On Thursday, Brady joined Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as she signed TWO gun safety bills into law, marking a major victory for public safety in Michigan!

The laws [[link removed]] expand Brady Background Checks and mandate safe firearm storage — evidence-based approaches that will keep firearms out of the hands of prohibited purchasers and help reduce school shootings, unintentional shootings, and gun suicide.
Brady fought tirelessly to pass these life-saving solutions in response to the devastating mass shooting at Michigan State University that killed three students and injured five others — and we couldn’t have done it without you, John.
We drove hundreds of calls and emails, raised our voices at rallies, and provided vital testimony to institute these life-saving solutions. This collaborative effort reaffirms that we can make real, lasting progress on the state level to protect our communities from senseless gun violence. Please join us in celebrating this major victory for public safety!
