Friend,

We had a great week back home in the district on our 22 County Tour! We were in 12 counties this week – we hosted two in-person town hall meetings, met with impressive students, workers, and educators in the trades, heard from job creators, and visited health care facilities that serve rural Iowans.

I will continue prioritizing meeting Iowans where they are, hearing from diverse voices, and being active in our communities across Northeast Iowa. It’s my honor to serve you, and I will continue to be a relentless advocate for all Iowans in Congress.

Best,

Steadfast Support for Taiwan

I joined Fox News to discuss our bipartisan meeting with President Tsai Ing-Wen of Taiwan and our steadfast support for Taiwan's sovereignty.

The Chinese Communist Party does not dictate who I meet with or who any U.S. lawmaker meets with. When we met with President Tsai, I reiterated the importance of our trade relationship and our shared commitment to democracy and freedom on the world stage. We will continue to stand with Taiwan in their inspiring fight for freedom over the CCP’s coercion and aggression. Watch the full clip here.

Standing Against Electric Vehicle Mandates

The Biden Administration's obsession with electric vehicles has gone too far this week the EPA announced a new vehicle emissions rule that could reportedly force up to 67% of vehicles in the U.S. to be electric by 2032! This overreaching mandate is ridiculous and completely out of touch with rural America.

Those who want to buy an electric vehicle should do so, but the Biden Administration should not be forcing Iowans to comply with their extensive and expensive electric vehicle requirements. I will fight these unrealistic requirements that will hurt middle America, and instead champion actual solutions, like expanding the use of clean energy sources like Iowa biofuels.

22 County Tour Stops

Floyd County Town Hall

At our town hall meeting in Floyd County, I answered questions on a wide range of issues, including the need to secure our Southern Border, build our workforce, and ensure veterans can afford their prescriptions. Democracy is a two-way street – I will continue to be accessible to Iowans and greatly appreciate those who took time out of their day to share their thoughts and concerns with me!

Butler County Town Hall

Our second in-person town hall of the week was in Butler County! I answered questions about the importance of competing with China, the role of biofuels in reducing energy costs, and supporting our law enforcement. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation!

National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (Dubuque County)

National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) has an incredible mission – improving safety and saving lives in rural communities. Their trainings and safety programs have saved at least 35 lives nationwide and they are expanding their reach through partnerships with colleges and educational centers across the country. I was proud to secure federal funding for NECAS and enjoyed meeting with their team this week!

Henderson Products (Delaware County)

I enjoyed touring Henderson Products, Inc. in Manchester! I heard more about their partnerships with local schools and their trade-based education programs and even got to test out my skills on their welding simulator!

East Buchanan Telephone Cooperative (Buchanan County)

The East Buchanan Telephone Cooperative provides exceptional service to rural communities. It was great to learn more about their community-oriented business model and see their dedication to providing high quality service firsthand.

First Avenue East Floodgate Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (Linn County)

We celebrated a major milestone in Cedar Rapids this week at the ribbon cutting for the completion of the First Avenue East Floodgate! I will continue advocating for proactive investments in flood mitigation to protect lives and livelihoods.

Blackhawk School of Apprenticeship (Black Hawk County)

Blackhawk School of Apprenticeship offers a new approach to apprenticeships for HVAC and plumbing tradesmen. Students can earn while they learn -- they are able to make a living as they're gaining further skills to succeed in their chosen industry. I was so impressed with the students and educators!

Nestlé (Bremer County)

Many Nesquik products (Max and Jax are huge fans) in the U.S. are produced right here in Waverly! I’m proud of the Iowa workers at Nestlé and honored to represent them. I appreciated the tour this week!

Nashua Clinic (Chickasaw County)

The Nashua Clinic offers a range of patient-centered services and their team of medical professionals is committed to providing high quality health care for rural communities. It was great to meet with their team to learn more about their expanded women’s health care options and mental health services.

MacNider Art Museum (Cerro Gordo County)

The MacNider Art Museum is a fixture in Mason City and a cultural treasure in Iowa. The museum brings in visitors from far and wide and is a boon for the local tourism economy. Fun fact: the puppets featured below were in the Sound of Music!
