Dear John,
Last night, the pro-life Oregon Senate and House Republican leaders issued a press release [[link removed]] about the Joint Committee on Ways and Means work session for House Bill 2002 [[link removed]]. During the meeting, pro-life legislators strongly resisted attempts to ram the bill through the committee process.

In the press release, Senator Tim Knopp and Representative Vikki Breese-Iverson said:
During the committee meeting, Democrat committee leadership audibly gasped when Legislative Counsel confirmed that 10-year-olds would be able to get abortions without parental knowledge under the legislation they were "intimately involved with crafting".
As Democrat committee leadership stated tonight, Republicans “should have known this was coming” and prepared accordingly. We did know, we did prepare, we did come equipped with thorough questions. They simply could not answer them and would not give us more time.
If this policy was truly a well-crafted, well-vetted Democrat priority, why were government attorneys unable to answer the questions asked of them tonight with even an ounce of certainty?

We're grateful for the strong, pro-life voices who are standing up to pro-abortion politicians. Thank you to all the legislators on the Ways and Means Committee who spoke up for those whose rights are abridged under current law and threatened even more by HB 2002 [[link removed]].
Because everyone deserves an advocate,
