John, one in 25 American 5-year-olds won’t live to see 40 – a death rate about four times higher than in other wealthy nations. Firearms are the leading cause of the rapid decline to this disturbing lifespan.
This epidemic of gun violence is a policy choice, and it’s up to us to put an end to it.
That’s why, in the wake of the recent mass shooting in Nashville, we responded with immediate support for our gun violence prevention partners.
In the 48 hours following this tragedy, we texted nearly 175,000 people and identified more than 400 new gun violence prevention activists.
With your help, we will continue to grow this outreach and our rapid response capacity to amplify our partners’ calls for a sane response to these tragedies. Can you pitch in $10 or more today to help prevent the leading cause of death for our nation’s children?

Since the Nashville shooting, a lot has happened: 20 more mass shootings at the time of writing, huge protests calling for gun violence prevention, the expulsion of two (out of three) TN Democratic State Representatives who joined them, their reinstatements, and now, at last, action from the Republican Governor.
We have yet to see the impact of his Executive Order on background checks or his call for red flag laws, but one thing is clear: This would never have happened without the incredible work of Tennessee’s gun violence prevention activists, their massive protests, and a flood of national support for their work.
If the GOP had their way, they would have simply silenced all calls for action, robbed the voters who elected the two legislators they expelled of their representation, and moved on.
John, this is proof that change is possible, even in deep-red states, if they just get the support they need to pull it off. Will you donate $10 or more right now to help us continue supporting activist organizations in the fight against our gun violence epidemic?
