It’s almost Tax Day, friend.
I don’t have a fancy accountant, so this time of year is always accompanied by a mad dash to find all the documents I need and plenty of confusion and frustration as I try to input all the information in the correct fields.
But I don’t need an accountant to tell me that I pay more in taxes than billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk or wealthy corporations like Amazon and Nike – and you probably do too, friend.
Every year, the wealthy and well-connected use their power and influence to rig the rules against working people, families, and small businesses, diverting resources from our public schools to their private jets.
Safe and solid roads and bridges, strong public schools that nurture our kids’ dreams, secure retirement for our seniors – our communities can thrive when billionaires and corporations pay what they owe. (President Biden’s proposal to make the super-wealthy pay what they truly owe through taxes would boost Medicare for more than two decades!)
It’s time for politicians to stop giving billionaires and wealthy corporations a free pass. We need to elect a Democratic majority that will hold powerful interests accountable to ensure that our communities can thrive.
We can’t build a Democratic majority without you, friend. Can I count on you to chip in $15 right now so we can provide our county parties with the tools they need to organize in every corner of the state? [[link removed]]
