Rising Interest Rates Roundtable

Wisconsin families and workers’ wages aren’t keeping up with inflation. High interest rates are preventing Wisconsin families from being able to buy a home or a car and afford the things they need. I am focused on getting inflation under control.
While inflation and rising interest rates run rampant, I am working with Wisconsin families, workers, and business owners to address these issues. Recently, I held a roundtable in Oak Creek to hear from workers, builders, remodelers, and area lenders that have been impacted by rising costs and interest rates.
At the roundtable, we discussed the difficulties workers and families are facing and the actions we must take to bring down costs. Right now, the Federal Reserve is using a blunt force tool to combat inflation by increasing interest rates. High interest rates make it more difficult for families to purchase the same home they could afford a year ago. Congress should be focused on reducing inflation and bringing down costs for families.
The federal government is spending far too much. Washington’s reckless spending has driven inflation. To combat inflation, we need to stop the reckless spending in Washington, unleash American energy, and help workers get back to work.
Bringing down costs for families and workers remains my top priority. Last month I helped pass H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. This legislation would promote an all of the above energy plan and unleash American energy. Energy remains a key driver of inflation. I’m focused on reducing costs.
