Metro's Better Bus Network Redesign Party

Friday, April 21, 3:00 - 7:00 pm

Better Bus is an initiative to rethink, redesign, and revitalize bus service to better serve the needs of customers in the region. Through a network redesign, Metro is taking a fresh and detailed look at bus service and routes to serve you better. Come show your appreciation with a fun party atmosphere: DJ, gold décor, cupcakes, popcorn, candy, goodie bags, face painting, photobooth, and more! Join the fun at THEARC.

Ward 1.5 Meetup

Sunday, April 23, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Civic engagement can be both rewarding and frustrating, but it should never be lonely. If you're looking to connect with other folks--especially in Wards 1 and 2--who think neighbors are nicer than neighborhood character and that cities should be for people, not for cars, this month's meet-up will be held at Grand Duchess. Since 2008, Greater Greater Washington has worked to create a Washington region where housing is abundant and affordable, it's safe and easy to get around without a car, and land use decisions prioritize racial, social, and environmental justice.

With 15 years of progress to celebrate and big dreams for the future, we invite you to join us at our Spring Soirée on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Hook Hall!

Hill Family Biking: Kidical Mass Ride 

Saturday, April 29, 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Join the newly-formed Hill Family Biking group in their first monthly family-friendly "Kidical Mass" bike ride starting at the triangle park at A St and North Carolina Ave NE, and ending with ice cream at Capital Candy Jar (4 miles). 

Donate to the silent auction for our Spring Soirée: Perhaps a scarf you knitted, a photo you’ve taken, or urbanist art you've made? Last year, GGWash readers and volunteers donated more than 30 items to help us raise more than $3,000! You can use this form to submit your items.

Join the Silent Auction Committee: Are you detail-oriented and comfortable formatting in Google Docs? The Silent Auction Committee is looking for volunteers that can donate 3 - 6 hours of their time to support the Silent Auction between April 22 and April 26. Let us know if you're available to help out! 

Help at the Spring Soirée: We’re looking for 2 more volunteers to help out with registration and set up or clean-up at the Spring Soirée! If you’re interested, complete the google form to sign up. We’d love to give first preference to folks who would not otherwise buy a ticket.

Ask your member of Congress to support HR 1668 The Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Active Transportation Safety Act: Named for the cyclist and diplomat who was killed by a driver in Bethesda last summer, this bill would increase the share of an active transportation project's cost that can be covered using Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding, streamline bureaucracy related to the nomination of active transportation projects for HSIP funding, and strengthen guidance around the use of HSIP funds for bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure connectivity and safety. Learn more and write a letter of support asking your representative to sign on as a cosponsor.

Hill Family Biking: New group to organize rides, call for safer streets

The newly-formed Hill Family Biking group was born out of a group bike ride to support a one-block bike lane project. Join them in their first "Kidical Mass" bike ride!
