Dear Friend of CURE Epilepsy,

In 1998, support for the parents of children with epilepsy was scarce. Susan Axelrod and a small group of desperate parents found refuge and hope around her kitchen table. Each parent faced the "lonely diagnosis" and the looming question after so many failed treatments: "Is this all the information and help we can get?" While they grieved the lives once imagined for their children, they could not idly sit knowing that everyone impacted by epilepsy deserved more. United by their frustrations, they spearheaded the search for a cure.

Twenty-five years later, CURE Epilepsy continues to drive the research necessary to find cures. Recently, we highlighted the work of CURE Epilepsy Grantee Dr. John Swann, whose progressive initial discoveries demonstrated the importance of funding foundational research to put us one step closer to a cure. By better understanding the mechanisms that cause seizures, we can develop curative treatments for epilepsy.

In 2023, people impacted by epilepsy still deserve more. Scientific research is our greatest hope for the estimated 150,000 people diagnosed with epilepsy each year. Help us spearhead research for the next 25 years as our founders did. Together, we can accelerate our pursuit of a cure for epilepsy and the goal of "no seizures, no side effects." Please consider a donation for this critical research today.

Best Regards,
