Jack, sign the petition to the DOJ: Investigate the expulsion of Tennessee state legislators.

Tennessee Republicans voted to expel two Democratic members of the state House–Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson—for joining peaceful protestors in solidarity. Removing Jones and Pearson from the House is a clearly undemocratic overreach.

Tennessee Republicans, in their hasty political stunt, may have also violated the Constitution or federal civil rights laws. In 1966, for instance, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously upheld free speech when Georgia legislators improperly denied Rep. Julian Bond his seat because he had spoken out against the Vietnam War.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and a group of other senators have sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting an investigation. The Justice Department must investigate the expulsions of Tennessee state Reps. Justin Pearson and Justin Jones. Join us in demanding an investigation immediately.
