The botched Afghanistan withdrawal will forever be President Biden’s scarlet letter, and this administration’s lack of transparency underscores the fact that they messed up BIG TIME.
You probably didn’t hear about the 12-page report released last week because they intentionally published it right before Easter weekend. This was a sure-fire attempt to let it fly under the radar—but I won’t let it.
13 brave Americans should be at home with their families. Instead, their families are remembering them at their graves. Tennessee native Ryan Knauss was one of the 13. He was on his second deployment to Afghanistan when he was killed in the suicide bombing near Kabul airport.
Our courageous service members deserved better than the incompetence of the Biden administration, and it’s baffling that they think they can continue to play the blame game.
So let's hold a mirror up to their failures:
- They failed the thousands of Americans abandoned to fend for themselves under Taliban rule.
- They failed our allies who sent soldiers to Afghanistan to support our mission.
- They failed the people of Afghanistan who risked their lives to help us.
- They failed the Americans serving there and we emboldened our enemies like never before.
This fumbled withdrawal was a total disgrace, and I’m confident that Americans like us won’t forget it, no matter how hard the Biden administration tries to downplay this tragedy.
