As the holy month of Ramadan gets underway, we would like to send our warmest wishes to all of our Muslim union members, their families, and the larger Muslim community. We recognize the difficulties our Muslim members and employees may encounter while fasting throughout their working hours, as Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, and meditation.
The AFL-CIO shares the Muslim community's desire to pursue their faith without prejudice or discrimination because we know and value the physical and spiritual strength earned through this practice of fasting. We are dedicated to safeguarding the values on which our nation was founded—respect for all people of all religions.
Please remember workers around the world who are fighting for dignity and justice as our Muslim brothers and sisters begin this holy month from March 22 to April 21. May this month offer you and your loved ones spiritual blessings.
Eid Mubarak and Happy Eid to all!

United Campus Workers of Arizona need your support to ensure fair working conditions for Contingent Faculty throughout the university system in Arizona. Contingent Faculty are faculty members in higher education who are hired only for short-term contracts and excluded from the opportunity to earn tenure. Across the country, and right here at ASU and UA, Contingent Faculty outnumber traditional tenure-track university faculty. Contingent faculty now comprise at least 53% of all faculty appointments at UA and 61% at ASU, and these numbers continue to rise. Contingent Faculty members are disproportionately women and people of color. We teach the majority of undergraduate students and provide extensive course design at both universities. As faculty who perform essential labor, we demand fair working conditions: job security, paths to promotion, and thriving wages.

Sign the Petition: 420 for Cannabis Worker Justice!
Cannabis workers have been enthusiastically serving Arizonan communities since 2010. Over the past 13 years, these hard-working Arizonans—including budtenders, patient care specialists, warehouse staff, lab technicians, and others—have assisted thousands of patients and clients. As a result, the cannabis sector in Arizona has grown to be a multi-billion dollar one. We cannot forget the very workers who have enabled this wealth.
After dozens of buyouts, mergers, and acquisitions, the cannabis industry has undergone significant changes in recent years. We must ensure the industry is committed to patient care and customer service—instead of only profit margins and shareholders.
Join us in celebrating 420 by demanding justice for cannabis workers! Please sign the petition to tell corporate cannabis operators: your workers deserve safer working conditions, full-time employment, a living wage, and dignity on the job!

Alert: Protect Working People! Pass the PRO Act!
We join Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) and Reps. Bobby Scott (Va.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.) in their call to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Work stoppages were up 52% in 2022, and the number of workers involved in stoppages increased 60%.
If we want to build up worker power, our outdated labor laws must keep up with the times.
This is why now is the time to pass the PRO Act, just reintroduced in the House & Senate as the Richard L. Trumka PRO Act.
