John, a Trump-appointed judge in Texas has issued a ruling to ban the distribution of the prescription pill mifepristone, which accounts for about half of all abortions, nationwide.
This decision is dangerous and deeply wrong. It doesn't make patients safer. It doesn't allow doctors to provide better care. And it doesn't address any of the issues that would actually help families – like creating paid family leave, establishing universal pre-K, or lowering health care costs. But let's talk about what this decision would do, if we allow it to stand.
What this would do is allow one extremist, out-of-touch judge to effectively ban the most common abortion procedure nationwide – even in states where abortion remains legal.
What this would do is stand between a patient and their doctor – during one of the most personal and private decisions that someone can face.
What this would do is take a pill that is safer than pregnancy itself off the market and away from the people who need it most.
What this would do is make it significantly harder and more expensive to access abortion care, meaning that more people will have to carry pregnancies that they cannot afford, aren't viable, and may even endanger the life of the pregnant person.
John, every day we are inching further and further backward, toward a time when abortions were illegal and incredibly dangerous. It's up to all of us to take a stand against this dangerous agenda to make sure we move forward, not backward.
There's still time to stop this ruling from taking effect, but we have to make our voices heard now. Please, will you add your name before midnight tonight to stand against this ruling and restore reproductive rights across the country? I'm counting on 5,000 signatures – including yours.
