John,
We are so excited to announce that phase 2 of our Student Solidarity Fund is finally here! Let's GOOO!
Phase 2 of the BLMGNF Student Solidarity Fund is finally here! This phase of the fund is dedicated to currently enrolled HBCU students, where they will have a chance to apply for a $750 scholarship to be used for anything they might need – whether it's funding for your metro card, getting some business outfits for that new internship, or to help with those *unnecessarily expensive* textbook costs.
The application for phase 2 of the Student Solidarity Fund will be opening this upcoming Monday, April 17th @ 12:00 pm EST / 9:00 am PST.
College is all about experiences and education, but for many HBCU students, the reality is it's an uphill battle to have their basic needs met. It's no surprise that in 2020 out of 5,000 students who were surveyed from 14 public and private HBCU's, 55% of them said they were struggling with housing while another 20% of them said they had experienced homelessness within that year.
Our intention with this scholarship is to begin to close this immediate financial gap. Black students are an important part of the future, and we want to see them thriving, not simply surviving.
Is your school listed?
Here is a list of 100+ HBCU's.
Once again, the application for phase 2 of the Student Solidarity Fund will be opening this upcoming Monday, April 17th @ 12:00 pm EST / 9:00 am PST. Be sure to set a reminder so you can apply early! The application will go live here.
If you are not a currently enrolled student attending an HBCU, be sure to forward this email to someone who is!
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation
