There's been a lot happening lately in the federal lawsuit seeking to block access to medication abortion, so let us catch you up. Here's the latest in the federal case that could effectively ban mifepristone in all 50 states:

FIRST: A Trump-appointed judge ruled to block the FDA's approval of mifepristone, an incredibly safe and effective medication used in medication abortion—the most common method for abortion care throughout the country. This decision was meant to effectively ban medication abortion as we know it and further restrict abortion access throughout the country, including in states where the right to abortion is protected.

THEN: The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a decision that blocked large parts of that judge's ruling meant to remove FDA approval of mifepristone. But it also reinstated outdated and medically unnecessary restrictions on mifepristone. This decision was an unprecedented attempt to turn back the clock on how abortion care is provided that could delay people in obtaining abortion care.

NOW: This case is with the Supreme Court. And if the disastrous Dobbs decision that struck down Roe v. Wade is any indication, we can't trust the conservative majority to protect our fundamental freedoms.
