Indivisibles,
Minutes ago, Senate Republicans pushed through a vote to prevent any
witness testimony in the impeachment trial. While we encourage you to keep
calling to pressure your senators on the final vote, the truth is: it’s
very likely that the Senate will "acquit" their president of all crimes.
GOP senators have made it clear where their loyalties lie, and it’s not
with the American people.
It’s time to switch to payback mode.
Next week, we want to run a full-page newspaper ad in one of our
[ [link removed] ]Payback Project target states. We’ll showcase the senator’s bad vote in
their home turf, directly to their constituents.
We’d love to run these everywhere, but newspaper ads are EXPENSIVE. It
varies from paper to paper, but we’re expecting to spend around $40,000 on
one ad in one state. So we’re beginning strategically, in states where
constituents are already mad about this outcome -- where Trump’s approval
is underwater and support for impeachment is relatively high.
We’ve identified four senators who fit the bill: Susan Collins (ME), John
Cornyn (TX), Cory Gardner (CO), and Martha McSally (AZ). They’re the worst
of the worst: anti-democracy, pro-Trump ideologues. They’re also all in
tough 2020 reelection races, and with the right organizing, we can beat
them.
Because Indivisible has always been a people-driven organization, we want
your input on where we should start out: [ [link removed] ]click here to see a sample
newspaper ad, and vote on where we should place it.

[ [link removed] ]Once you’ve voted, please make a donation to Indivisible Action’s
Payback Project to support this and all our work and help us take back the
Senate. Unlike a lot of groups, we don’t take money from anonymous donors,
or people who want to decide for us what work we take on, and grassroots
donations are our biggest single funding source. So the Payback Project
and taking back the Senate really, truly, literally depend on your
support.
Senate Republicans seem to think if they just keep up the barrage of bad
votes and bad policies, that we’ll eventually get tired, forget about it,
and leave them alone. We’ve got news for them: it’s not going to happen.
We’re going to fight hard, every day, until every last one of them leaves
office. We’re glad you’re with us to make it happen.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
