Dear John,

In the next few days, Congress is expected to vote on Representative Greg Steube's (R-Fla.) bill, The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act (H.R. 734).This bill will require schools to follow the true intent of Title IX to ensure fairness and equality for female athletes.

We need this bill now more than ever! Women's sports are under attack in America. Biological males are being permitted, with increasing frequency, to rob female athletes of their privacy, safety, and opportunity.

Will you reach out to your U.S. Representative and ask them to protect female athletes and female athletics by voting for Rep. Steube's bill?

Title IX, enacted in 1972, was in part created to carve out a space for women in the athletic world. In 1972, only 300,000 women nationwide were involved in high school athletics. Today, estimates are that more than 3.2 million high school girls are involved in sports. At the collegiate level, there are almost 230,000 female athletes. These women have worked tirelessly to be competitive in their respective sports.

But gender ideology is destroying the space that Title IX created for women's sports.

Take, for instance, the story of swimmer Lia Thomas, formerly known as Will Thomas, who after three years competing on the University of Pennsylvania's men's swim team, switched to join the women's team in 2021. After joining the women's team, Thomas went from being ranked #464 in men's collegiate swimming to becoming a dominant #1 in women's swimming, robbing women of first-place finishes in race after race and shattering women's collegiate records.

Gender ideology has led to violence. During the 2022 NCAA finals, Riley Gaines, a swimmer from the University of Kentucky, tied with Lia Thomas for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle. Despite the tie, the NCAA presented Thomas with the trophy, telling Gaines she would receive one in the mail. Since then, Gaines has traveled the country sounding the alarm about what is at stake for women. Just last week, Gaines was both physically and verbally attacked by activists while speaking at San Francisco State University. Gaines tweeted, "I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces."

Ironically, the Biden Administration has doubled down on undermining Title IX by allowing biological males to compete against women. The administration has issued a Notice of Proposed Rule Making that would put further pressure on schools to allow men to compete in women's sports. It would also put the onus on women to file a complaint to prove that they are being harmed and discriminated against.

Contact your U.S. Representative now and urge them to vote for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act to protect athletes like Riley Gaines!

No female athlete should have her efforts erased by a biological man. Tell Congress to act to ensure that women's sports are protected.

Sincerely,
