John, this is the longest email I’ll ever send you, but it’s important, so I hope you’ll spare a few minutes to read it through.

Since the launch of Defend Democracy PAC, I’ve been totally blown away by the support and enthusiasm from this grassroots team.

Together, we’re going to effect real change in Virginia. But before the election season really heats up, I want to outline the key points of our plan to elect Democrats across the Commonwealth.

Level the Playing Field

Virginia has some of the most laid-back campaign finance laws in the country, which Republicans have taken enormous advantage of in recent years.

But instead of being swept away, we can make sure we’re prepared for the coming flood of right-wing mega-donor cash.

I launched Defend Democracy PAC as a state-level PAC, which means we have much greater leeway to fundraise and invest funds here in Virginia. And since members of the General Assembly can’t fundraise during the legislative session, organizations like ours need to do whatever it takes to level the playing field.

Defend Democracy

Virginia’s democratic tradition dates back over four hundred years, but the GOP’s authoritarian tactics are pushing our institutions to the breaking point.

It’s our responsibility to ensure that democracy endures in the Commonwealth. That’s why Defend Democracy PAC’s core mission is to debunk dangerous election conspiracies, protect and expand voting rights, and guarantee that elections are free, fair, and secure.

And most importantly, we’ll support candidates who will unwaveringly fight for democracy, equality, freedom, and truth at every step of the way.

Support Democrats in Key Races

Republicans are aggressively targeting the vast majority of elections taking place in Virginia this year. If we’re going to keep up, we need to stretch our resources as far as possible.

The Defend Democracy PAC strategy is simple: Abide by the evidence, invest efficiently, and don’t be afraid to innovate.

Our methods and experience will allow us to support Democratic candidates in key races and make critical inroads with voters across the Commonwealth. With your help, we’ll build a dedicated blue coalition for 2023 and beyond.
