Hi John,

You may have seen my email last week inviting you to join us in attending The Big One.

In just one week Greenpeace and over 100 other like-minded organisations like Friends of the Earth, NHS Workers Say No and Fuel Poverty Action will gather together to demand the government face the reality of the multiple crises we're facing.

We’d love to see you there 21st-24th April, Parliament Square.

I'll be there! [link removed]

If you’re coming from outside London, travelling together with others can be a great start. Check out the current list of coaches: [link removed]
Below is the email I sent last week

Hope to see you there,

Tally Richmond,
Greenpeace UK

PS: If you’ve already let us know you can’t make it, thank you for letting us know. If you’d like, would you be able to send an email to a few friends or family?

Hi John,

This is our moment to come together. That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in Extinction Rebellion’s (XR) ‘The Big One’.

From the 21st - 24th of April Greenpeace and other like-minded organisations: [link removed] will join thousands of concerned people in standing outside the Houses of Parliament to demand action for people and the planet. This invitation is for everybody, from all walks of life, to unite in a peaceful call to action.

Why is this important? Why XR?

We've recently been reminded that to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, we need to cut global emissions in half by the end of this decade. This will require acting fast, and at scale. [1] Yet the UK government is doing everything but that. They’re turning their heads away as big oil rakes in huge profits while the public suffer with soaring costs, failing to support the climate solutions that would also lower people's bills. The UK government response is simply inadequate, not enough and too slow.

But we believe united we can win. History shows that mass, sustained protest works. That’s why we are showing up in solidarity with XR.

XR recently announced a change in tactic making this a peaceful protest which prioritises attendance over arrest and relationships over roadblocks so they can be as inclusive and accessible as possible. The Big One will be a calm, peaceful, joyous protest.

XR are calling on 100,000 people to join in. Everyone is going to be there from union groups, racial justice groups and environmental groups like Friends of the Earth, Global Justice Now and CND. The more people that come, the louder our message will be demanding the government take action.

I'll be there!: [link removed]

What can you expect on the day?

There will be a lot to see and do on the streets of Westminster, such as a Peoples Picket Line and Earth Day March. You can find the full plan on XR’s website, including answers to frequently asked questions.: [link removed]

We (Greenpeace staff and the volunteer network) will be there on the 21st and 22nd of April, with two designated spaces; the Activist Corner and the Community Tent where you’ll see a range of speakers, performers, music, workshops and activities like yoga and banner making. Check out this event page for more information about what we’ll be up to - a map with our location will be shared on the first day.: [link removed]

Come down and say hello, stay for an hour, stay all day - it's up to you!

Hope to see you there,

Tally Richmond,
Greenpeace UK
