There are still many doctors that take their oath to do no harm seriously and operate according to their consciences and medical expertise.
But Joe Biden’s Department of “Health” and Human Services (HHS) is doing everything in its power to run them out of the medical profession.
In an unprecedented move, HHS announced they would interpret existing laws on sex discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
That means doctors would be forced to participate in medically transitioning patients—even if they think it’s against the patient’s best interest, even if it contradicts their professional opinion, and even if it violates their religious beliefs—whenever Medicaid, Medicare, or other federal tax dollars would fund the procedure.
We couldn’t sit back and do nothing.
So, when we heard the American College of Pediatricians, the Catholic Medical Association and individual doctors came together to sue HHS, we filed an amicus brief in support of their case.
I’ve seen the damage that puberty blockers, testosterone treatments, and unnecessary mastectomies cause upon impressionable young kids—all in the name of “gender affirming care.”
The Center for American Liberty represents Chloe Cole and Layla Jane in landmark lawsuits against Kaiser Permanente for performing radical double mastectomies on Chloe and Layla when they were just 15 years old and 13 years old, respectively.
Now, Chloe and Layla are 18 years old and are fighting back – telling their stories publicly and suing the doctors who mutilated their bodies for profit.
So many doctors have already sold out to the transgender lobby, but apparently that’s not enough for the Biden administration.
They want all doctors to bow at their altar of wokeness, with no room for dissent or objection, no matter how devastating the human consequences are.
This is much more serious than preferred pronouns, John.
This dangerous guidance from HHS puts patients at risk while also violating the rights of doctors.
Forcing faithful doctors to violate their conscience by giving vulnerable children puberty blockers violates their religious freedom protected by the First Amendment.
Forcing doctors to provide medical services at odds with their own professional medical judgment violates physicians’ freedom of speech.
Essentially, the Biden Administration is telling doctors to shut up and perform these barbaric procedures.
We cannot let this stand.
So, although it isn’t our lawsuit, we felt we had to file an amicus brief to support the good doctors and oppose the dangerous ideology on the other side.
