Dear Friend,

A federal appeals court just sowed more confusion about the state of the
abortion pill in our country.

While the court put a temporary hold on the ruling banning the medication
mifepristone, the court prohibited all mail order and generic prescribing
of the drug, making the abortion pill exceedingly difficult to obtain.(1)
The next stop is the Supreme Court, but there is no telling when they will
respond -- or how.(2) We cannot depend on the courts.

In 24 hours, access to the medication used for 53% of abortions across the
United States will be in peril, and the FDA has yet to act. We must ramp
up our campaign to pressure the FDA to issue an emergency authorization
for mifepristone before millions of people are cut off from their
reproductive rights.

Without mail order access, people will have to visit an abortion clinic in
person to obtain the pill -- and 1 in 3 women don’t have access to one.(3)

Moreover, removing access to the generic version will create a medication
shortage. It’s an abortion ban, plain and simple.

Doctors are already warning about the risks of not having mifepristone on
the market. The only other pill approved for abortion is not nearly as
effective and can cause painful side effects. Users may have to take the
drug three or four times before it is effective. These decisions make
abortion more disruptive and cause more suffering -- which is the
point.(4)

The Biden administration has already appealed the latest mifepristone
ruling to the Supreme Court -- but we’ve seen over and over that this
particular Supreme Court cannot be trusted to uphold our rights.

The FDA has the power to issue emergency authorization for the abortion
pill, and it has to act. We are collecting hundreds of thousands of
signatures and using our powerful social media voice to call out the Biden
administration, and, if we raise enough, we can run another billboard
demanding that our government stand up for our rights. We are also
planning a town hall for the people of California to help them understand
their rights, and we will push Congress to finally hold a vote on
codifying Roe v. Wade.

abortion pill?

Thanks for your critical support.
