NOTE REGARDING MISSOURI RIGHT TO LIFE OPPOSITION TO MEDICAID EXPANSION:

A proposal to place a Medicaid expansion program into the Missouri Constitution is contained in Initiative no. 2020-063 (as numbered by the Secretary of State). Proponents are seeking signatures from voters to put it on the ballot in the fall. The proposal ignores the growing danger that the Hyde Amendment will be terminated in the near future, leaving unborn children completely exposed to governmental funding of abortions if their mothers are covered by Medicaid. The proposal also means greatly expanding current Medicaid funding of abortions of newly-formed human beings by means of prescriptions of the so-called "morning after" pills.

For pro-life reasons, pro-lifers find Initiative 2020-063 unacceptable. Abortions are not health care, and Missouri should not expand a program that will pay for more of them.

Remember, the pro-abortion supporters of Medicaid Expansion are asking you to put Medicaid Expansion into the Missouri Constitution “without” the pro-life protections of the annual “Hyde Amendment”. They are counting on a future when those who support abortion are in control and will then refuse to pass the “Hyde Amendment”. They should have put the pro-life protections of the “Hyde Amendment” in the constitutional amendment as well, but they did not.

Call your Congressman/woman and our State Senators:

Ask them to oppose any attempt to advance the ERA and to stop the erroneous attempt to extend the date to ratify the ERA. Let them know that pro-life Missourians, Missouri Right to Life and National Right to Life oppose the ERA because it will force public funding of abortion.
