Hi,

First, the extreme right-wing Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Then, MAGA Republican governors and state legislatures enforced heavy restrictions on abortion rights — making it nearly impossible for millions and millions of people to get abortion care. Now, one of those restrictions comes from Idaho — where the GOP is trying to pass the first ban on interstate travel for abortion care.1

Abortion care is not a crime. Urge President Biden to issue executive actions protecting easy, safe access to abortion care in America — including protecting interstate travel and access to abortion medication.

Idaho already has some of the most extreme abortion restrictions in America. Nearly all abortions are banned and the state has an affirmative defense law that essentially asserts any doctor who provides an abortion is guilty until proven innocent.2 Now, Idaho Republicans want to criminalize certain residents if they travel out of state to get an abortion. They’re even calling it "abortion trafficking."

Every restriction on abortion rights, care, and access in America is an act of oppression. It’s an attempt to restrict freedoms and women’s control over their own bodies, futures, and families.

A few weeks ago, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Mazie Hirono led a letter to the White House asking President Biden to take eleven actions to protect abortion rights in America including protecting medication abortion, issuing guidance detailing Americans’ right to travel across state lines for an abortion, strengthening health privacy laws to ensure that provider and patient data cannot be shared with law enforcement, and revoking Trump-era executive orders that restrict abortion rights.3

We cannot wait any longer. Sign the petition: President Biden must protect abortion rights with a series of executive orders.

Thanks for taking action,

Tihi and the team at Demand Progress
