Women of color have disproportionate access to maternal health care, resulting in health disparities that compound inequalities in education and economic outcomes for generations of families. Black women are 3 times more likely than white women to die from pregnancy-related complications and twice as likely to lose an infant to premature death.



For 40 years, Start Early has championed the belief that equitable access to quality health care, rooted in maternal health, early childhood development programs and comprehensive early learning and care experiences promote thriving and resilient children and families. Our doula and home visiting programs prioritize a mother’s health and well-being by providing emotional support, coaching and resources needed to help navigate the transition to motherhood.
