A group of Washington insiders calling themselves "No Labels" is threatening to spoil the 2024 presidential election by propping up a third party candidacy.
No Labels' leaders would like us to think of them as "pragmatic" and "independent." They're even describing their plan as running a "unity ticket."
Don't be fooled.
No Labels is the ultimate insider group, a smug bunch of coastal elites who think they know better than the rest of us. We have to be clear about what they're actually doing: clearing a path to send Donald Trump (or someone just like him) to the White House.
Backed by $70 million dollars from anonymous donors, No Labels is targeting voters in states that are crucial to defeating Donald Trump. They've already won ballot access in four states, and they're ready to sue to get on the ballot in all 50 states next year if necessary.
2024 is going to be a close election, just like the previous two, and we'll need every single vote. No Labels won't win, but they also won't have to persuade many people to throw the election: even a weak No Labels showing could put as many as 79 Democratic electoral votes at risk.
The so-called "unity" plan will be disastrous for working families, and we're going to make sure that rural communities across America know it. No Labels will hold a convention in Dallas on April 13, 2024 – one year from today – to appoint their candidates and pat each other on the back. Over the next few months, we'll be in touch to update you on our work to get the truth out and to let you know how folks like you can pitch in.
In the meantime, can you donate $19 monthly to fuel the effort?
Together, we will protect our democracy from its misguided would-be saviors.
More soon,
Tessa
