Road construction season begins   City of Auburn, Maine. Upcoming Events   NEWS FROM AUBURN, MAINE   Auburn's Road Construction Season Begins! Road construction season is upon us, Auburn! And the city has several significant projects coming up that we want you to know about. Maine DOT will begin work on the iron bridge on Main Street (near Rolly's Diner) on 4/24 (estimated completion by 6/30). Crews will replace the concrete wearing surface of the bridge. There will be one-way traffic in both directions for the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route to avoid delays.   The Mount Auburn Avenue project will also begin on 4/24 and will go from the BJ’s/Home Depot entrances to the compact urban line near Whiting Farm. This project will include the addition of sidewalks, pedestrian crossing, road widening, utility upgrades, reclamation and reconstruction. The project will also realign the bend in the road near Whiting’s to increase sight distances. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The Main/Mill/Broad Streets project in New Auburn will begin this coming Monday, 4/17 (estimated completion: 10/31). This project will include reconstruction of utilities, ADA upgrades, geometric re-alignments, pedestrian safety improvements, sidewalks, signals, and road pavement. Daytime construction activities will take place between 9:00AM and 4:00PM and will maintain 1 lane of traffic in each direction. Alternate routes are strongly suggested.
