John,
Whilst our politicians are all taking a little Easter break, we've
had time to reflect on our work over recent months and I thought this
would be a great opportunity to share with you our annual report:
This past year was certainly one of the most eventful I can
remember in British politics, and writing this report was a stark
reminder of how much we've had to campaign for (and against!).
Whether it's our Can't
Wait campaign highlighting the mess this Government's left
our country in and how a fairer voting sustem is part of the solution,
or our work with the APPG
on Coronavirus and the UK
Trade & Business Commission, we set ourselves the highest
standards possible for our work.
And let's not forget the things
we achieved together, because of your campaigning:
-
you made sure protests would still be allowed outside
the UK Parliament despite the heavy-handed Policing Bill
-
you protected free and fair elections and fought for
the independence of the Electoral Commission against the authoritarial
Elections Bill
- and most recently the EU reached agreement with the UK on the
Northern Ireland Protocol in part because your
campaigning delayed the Government's divisive Northern Ireland
Protocol Bill.
That's why it's so important to us that when we ask for you to help
keep our work going, you get to see the proof of our successes and
failures - this is the exact same document we give to our board, John,
and I'd like for you to see it too.
Please
take the time to read our annual report to see all the great work
the team's been doing to fight for a fairer society, and thanks as
ever for your vital support.
Best wishes,
Cary Mitchell
