It wasn’t long ago that most people agreed on this pretty uncontroversial statement: Here in the United States, we don’t ban books.

Generations of Veterans fought for that. Our men and women on active duty defend that. And we all know what kinds of countries — what kinds of people — like to ban books.

But today, Republicans are pushing book bans wherever they can. In many cases, they’re going further. Republicans in Missouri are moving a bill that would revoke funding for public libraries entirely.

This is bigger than just the books. It’s bigger than Republicans versus Democrats. This is about the kind of country we want to be.

From local town and city races all the way up to the presidency, VoteVets is in this fight. We’ve been working to elect progressive Veterans and allies to public office for 17 years, and we’ve gotten pretty damn good at it.

And today, you have a role to play.

Ahead of our mid-month deadline on Saturday, donate to the VoteVets PATRIOT FUND. This is what we’re going to use to run ads in swing races, turn out our voters, and beat wacko right-wing extremists in the House and Senate.

For the ones that came before us and the ones that will come after us, it’s time to make a stand.

Hope you’re with us,
