Michigan gov. signs gun reform bills into law - Bills establish universal background checks, safe storage

Team, this is why we organize and put in the hard work to make sure Michigan Democrats win:

Today, Governor Whitmer signed legislation to require universal background checks and safe storage for guns in Michigan. This is Michigan Democrats’ first step in passing a commonsense 11-bill gun violence prevention package.

I want to make this clear, Team: This would not have been possible if Michigan Democrats didn’t take control of Michigan’s State House and State Senate and reelect Governor Whitmer.

We proved when we come together, we win together. Now, we’re proving when we win together, we can change the world.

Today is a day to celebrate the work that brought us to this moment. But it’s also important to remember that we cannot grow complacent. We need to make sure Michigan Democrats continue to have control of the state legislature or we risk not being able to pass laws like the laws passed today.

We can ward off complacency by building the resources we need to push Michigan Democrats to victory in 2024.  If you agree that we need to keep Michigan Democrats in control, make a contribution today to celebrate and ensure we have what it takes to win ›››
